Sunbelt Furniture Xpress and Anderson Truck Line Combine Operations
Sunbelt Furniture Xpress and Anderson Truck Line have entered into a definitive agreement to combine Anderson's operations into that of Sunbelt Furniture Xpress effective on Friday, August 7th 2009. We are very excited to have Anderson Truck Line as part of the SunBelt team as we continue to expand the scope and reach of our services to the furniture industry. Anderson which is based in Lenoir, NC was founded in 1932 and currently led by Dan Anderson. Dan Anderson will join the combined company and serve as Director of Business Development along with playing a key role in completing the merger of our operations.
Our goal is to provide a seamless transition so that Anderson's customers can continue to enjoy a superior level of service with the knowledge that they will have a long term, financially sound and dedicated provider in Sunbelt Furniture Xpress. The addition of Anderson to our current service area will allow us to serve 65% of the U.S population directly from our service centers located in Hickory NC, Dallas TX and Fontana CA. Sunbelt Furniture Xpress with the consolidation of Anderson into our operations will now provide 100% direct service to the states of FL, MD, DE, VA and the District of Columbia for a total direct delivery area encompassing 25 states stretching from the East Coast to Southern California.
SunBelt has for the past 44 years worked to provide to our customers a quality service product that allows both shippers and retailers to deliver on their promise to serve the customer. Our goal is to build on and continue the Anderson founding values of Honesty, Integrity and Excellent Service to the furniture industry. We greatly appreciate the support of both SunBelt and Anderson's customers and the opportunity to earn their business.
With the June 17th addition of Newton Transportation to our direct delivery network and the consolidation of Anderson Truck Line, SunBelt continues to focus on expansion in areas our customers ask us to serve as well as build on a delivery platform that allows for additional distribution channels. Our roll in of Newton Transportation into Sunbelt Furniture Xpress's service platform went exceptionally well and we expect the same with the addition of Anderson Truck Line. We view the addition of both companies as a value advantage for our customers and also one that positions Sunbelt Furniture Xpress well for a rebound in furniture and home accessory sales. Our growth and positioning strategy is to expand where warranted, deliver on our service and quality commitments to our existing customers and demonstrate to our potential customers how making Sunbelt Furniture Xpress their carrier of choice can and will benefit their business.
